Toll House & Garden Official View Spectators View
P & W Maintenance constructed the Thomas Telford Toll House & Garden at the show to mark the 250 Anniversary of the birth of Thomas Telford. To the delight of the Designers from Telford & Wrekin Borough council the garden was awarded a Silver Medal. The roof and the design of the house together with the paths and road were built to Telford's specification of the day. The Toll House was the toll keepers home, the garden reflected this by the vegetables and fruit grown for the keepers own. In addition British Wildflowers and shrubs were also planted together with an authentic heap of horse manure left by the front gate. Judging from the reaction of the interested crowds viewing the house & garden together with the favourable comments made by the BBC's Alan Titchmarsh the garden was a true interpretation of the time.
